“Throughout my life, I had always struggled with my weight and body image. When I was 15 years old, I started to workout and lose weight in hopes to eliminate these issues, but it had only gotten worse. As a result, I started to incorporate this into my artwork because I was able to express how I felt. I created pieces relating to body dysmorphia, eating disorders, and how the media affects many people’s perception of their own body. I use the contrast of vibrant colors and gray scale values to show the strong emotions attached to these sensitive but powerful topics. My goal is to show how difficult it could be dealing with these issues, but also how beautiful everyone can be, no matter what they look like.”
